Our “Solidarity with Purged Academics for Peace in Turkey” campaign has ended!
We would like to thank 918 donors from 23 countries worldwide for making it a huge success. Through this campaign, we could establish an emergency fund of $102,108 (including the legal fees) for Academics for Peace to support faculty who lost their jobs, pensions and their right to travel after the crackdown targeting academic freedom in Turkey. The funds (after deducting the legal and financial fees) are fully allocated and transferred to financially support the Academics for Peace through close collaboration with Education and Science Workers’ Union, Egitim-Sen, and other associations, which are actively assisting the purged Academics for Peace at the local and international level.
Our solidarity campaign, built together with our co-organizers Bostonbul, GIT North America and concerned academics in North America, not only initiated a global collective effort to create an emergency fund but also raised awareness for the ongoing academic oppression in Turkey.
We will continue to take active part in Academics for Peace initiatives globally, collaborate with our colleagues and support all collective efforts with the public and private means available to us.
Please follow our events and initiatives to become part of this solidarity effort.
Although our campaign ended, you can still donate for Academics for Peace! Please use the link below to make your donation. Thank you!
